Continuing our quest for dreams and reveries, the Somnium Seminibus was conceived. The series revolves around exploring the idea of a journey both inwards and outwards. We have been painting dreams, always returning to a notion of space as constantly exploding, as free-flowing. In between surreal bubbles and struggling with stored memories, but continuously being pumped up by aspirations.

The project documents the process of making the sculpture which is a part of an ongoing series called Escape by Thukral and Tagra.
The ‘Escape’ series addresses the issue of cultural shifts, problems and beliefs of people living in India today. We grew up with the general notion that most Indians dream of leaving India and moving overseas.

Low Tech Family Vacations is a series of works made as the result of a residency at Singapore Tyler Print Institute by Thukral and Tagra, the young art design duo from Northern India who have quickly made an international impact with their dreamlike visions of the proliferation of the consumer culture in contemporary India. The works are rich with a surreal register of images drawn from the artists’ own conscious present and subconscious past and are infused with a unique humour and imagination.
